As one of the leading textile exhibitions in China 2025, INTERFILIÈRE SHANGHAI highlights the timeless beauty of Chinese civilization—romantic hues and graceful silks that have carried the subtle emotions of the East for millennia. From October 13–14, 2025, the “INTERFILIÈRE X COLORO | The Art of Chinese Traditional Aesthetics ” will debut. Thirty iconic Chinese traditional shades will merge with silk, embroidery, and plant-dyeing crafts, presenting fresh ways to integrate aesthetics into design.

Classic tones such as cinnabar red, rouge, and sandalwood purple will appear alongside traditional silk-reeling, cocoon processing, and brocade weaving. Chinese traditional art links history and modernity, East and West, constantly flowing and renewing.

Traditional Chinese Colors

The exhibition builds on COLORO’s research into 216 Chinese traditional colors, transforming silk and heritage crafts into carriers of color. This interaction creates a tangible expression of Oriental aesthetics and strengthens INTERFILIÈRE SHANGHAI’s role in interpreting premium fabrics and craftsmanship.

These hues were identified through two years of study involving texts, relics, and craft reconstructions, culminating in the “Chinese Traditional Color Application Color Card.” Developed with dyeing expert Huang Ronghua, the card is both culturally rich and scientifically precise, offering designers a practical tool for accurate color application.

Chinese Silk

For centuries, the Silk Road connected Chinese silk with the world, its luxurious quality cherished for high-end and luxury goods. Today, fueled by social media, younger consumers are driving a silk revival. Silk lingerie, underwear, and loungewear are increasingly popular, showing the material’s vast potential.

Yet silk is often misunderstood as expensive or fragile, deterring many. The exhibition will highlight silk’s heritage in intimate apparel while also showcasing modern innovations such as improved washability—proof that tradition and technology can coexist. This positions silk as a material ready for contemporary lifestyles and continued global relevance in the lingerie industry.
