Zhou’s love for lingerie began early, when she learned how the right bra could transform body shape. With a background in science and medicine from Peking University, she explored the biomechanics of cup design and breast structure, experimenting on herself and helping classmates. After consulting and investment roles, she launched A to G in 2015 to merge passion with science.
Unlike mass-market labels, A to G builds lingerie through customization. Zhou and her team deconstruct bras into modular components, which are pieced together and adjusted like tailoring eyeglasses. Each detail—from cup rotation to strap placement—affects fit and support. Over 20 body measurements, both quantitative and qualitative, are collected to match clients with patterns, supported by a database refined over years. This approach creates loyal customers and high repurchase rates.
Zhou emphasizes that consumer knowledge is often clouded by myths, such as “underwire bras cause breast cancer.” To counter misinformation, she launched Professor Zhou’s Beautiful Breast Class, sharing evidence-based lingerie and breast health knowledge. For her, lingerie is not just a product, but education and empowerment.
Sourcing for customization demands the finest materials worldwide. Zhou has explored Italy, France, and INTERFILIÈRE PARIS, gaining access to top suppliers of lace, mesh, and linings. Even invisible fabrics matter: all A to G panties feature silk gussets for natural hygiene, and only 100% cotton is used for linings to ensure durability. This dedication to quality drives trust and long-term loyalty.
Production follows a single-piece model: R&D is the largest cost, while cutting is fully manual, taking at least 20 minutes per garment. Although slower than mass production, Zhou views it as the essence of craftsmanship. With algorithms and big data, A to G manages efficiency while retaining precision.
To aspiring designers, Zhou offers four principles: master technical skills and craftsmanship; refine aesthetics; remain original; and above all, love customization. Without passion, she says, the demanding service process of measurement, fitting, and tailoring cannot be sustained.
