Young Label Awards - Lingerie, Long-Termism, and Us
In today’s lingerie industry, “long-termism” often feels more elusive than luxury goods. Our patience for following a drama, staying in a job, or sustaining relationships wanes quickly. Fortunately, intimate apparel—our closest companion—still embodies long-term dedication.
A Victorian-era Western wedding tradition captures this spirit:
“Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.”
Old symbolizes ties to the past, new signifies success in marriage, borrowed brings happiness from married friends, and blue represents purity and loyalty. Lingerie, as something new, was part of the dowry. Traditionally, only the bride herself could make it, and antique gowns with hand-embroidered names can still be found in French flea markets, testifying to enduring happiness.
Began in Lyon, later moving to Paris, where INTERFILIÈRE and CURVE exhibitions have since upheld lingerie culture’s long-term values globally.
In 2015, after the 10th anniversary of INTERFILIÈRE and Mode Lingerie in China, the Eurovet Asia team (now part of Comexposium) sought a fresh start. As China’s fashion industry shifted from manufacturing to brand-building and designer labels gained visibility through digital platforms, we launched a new initiative. After more than a year of discussions with emerging brand leaders, the first themed salon took place in 2017.
This led to the Young Label Awards in Shanghai, with its debut in 2018. Winners earned the chance to showcase in Paris, introducing the world to China’s evolving brands. Despite brief interruptions, the YLA continues to support young designers with a focus on sustainable growth.
Long-termism at INTERFILIÈRE also extends to partnerships. Since 2000, the show has collaborated with Ms. Jos, known as the “Empress of Lingerie,” who, along with top forecasting agencies from France and Italy, has produced global trend guides for Chinese suppliers. Chinese brands like NEIWAI, Creme Su, and Voiment have been featured and introduced internationally.
Looking ahead, 2025 marks the third decade of INTERFILIÈRE and the newly revamped CURVE Shanghai. We invite Chinese brands to join us in continuing this commitment and to shape the next era of lingerie trends.
