On May 31, insiders revealed that Anta Group will appoint Zhao Guangxun as the new president of its women's sports brand MAIA ACTIVE. Zhao will report directly to Xu Yang, CEO of Anta Group's professional sports division.
MAIA ACTIVE, a rising local sports brand, has quickly become a strong competitor to lululemon in the domestic market. In October 2023, Anta acquired 75.13% of MAIA ACTIVE's shares, making it the largest shareholder.
Zhao Guangxun, currently Anta Group's Vice President of Retail, has extensive experience and market insight, having worked with the group for many years.
Xu Yang, a veteran at Anta, previously served as the General Manager of Arc'teryx China, where he significantly elevated the brand's status. He later returned to Anta as CEO and played a key role in signing NBA star Kyrie Irving, boosting Anta's international presence.
Earlier this year, following the departure of MAIA ACTIVE's founder and chief designer, there were concerns about the brand's future. However, if the new appointment is confirmed, the support of these two senior executives could bode well for MAIA ACTIVE, potentially replicating the success stories of FILA and Arc'teryx.
