Interfilière Insight 2026: From Trends to Product Development – Call for Participation
Key Takeaways
• The workshop explores how fashion trends are translated into lingerie product development.
• COLORO presents AW 27/28 lingerie color trend forecasting.
• Yubang R&D Center demonstrates how materials respond to trend signals.
• Designers participate in a hands-on Color × Material co-creation lab.
• The event bridges trend forecasting, material innovation, and product design.
In our previous article, "From 'Supply' to 'Co-creation': When Fabric Becomes the Product's First Narrative," we discussed an industry shift currently underway:
As brands increasingly emphasize "product expression," the role of the supply chain is evolving from mere "material provision" to "collaborative development."
So, what does an in-person event centered on "trend translation" actually look like?

On May 29, Interfilière Insight will visit the Yubang Shanghai Innovation & Research Center to host an immersive event—engaging sight, sound, and touch—titled: "From Trends to Product: The Implementation Path from Color to Lingerie."
This time, we are moving beyond mere discussion; we want designers to actively participate in the complete translation process—moving from trends to materials, and finally to product concepts.
Part 1: Trend Forecasting: AW 27/28 Lingerie Color Analysis by COLORO
To kick things off, Echo, Color R&D Director at COLORO, will present an "Analysis of AW 27/28 Lingerie Color Trends."
Unlike traditional "seasonal color reveals," this session focuses on how color is actually integrated into product development. The content will cover:
Macro trends and the evolution of color aesthetics
Key trend colors for AW 27/28
Color and emotional perception
Application of trend colors in lingerie
Echo has long studied the relationship between international fashion trends and the Chinese market, boasting over 15 years of experience in color trend forecasting and product color planning.
She is also a core drafter of the national textile industry standard "Textile Color System" and a key member of the R&D team for COLORO, China's applied color system. Her client portfolio includes major brands across various sectors, such as Anta, Bosideng, Sephora, Alibaba, Gree, and Balabala.
This session traces trend concepts back to their origin and development logic.

Part 2: From Trends to Materials: How Fabric Development Responds to Market Signals
Following the trend presentation, the event will move into a session on material deconstruction. Chris Lei, Head of the Yubang Innovation & Research Center, will share insights on how trend-driven requirements are transformed into actual materials. Moving beyond mere product showcases, Yubang will draw on real-world brand examples to share insights on:
How brands typically articulate trend-driven requirements
How material development responds to shifting trends
The synergy between color, tactile feel, and functionality
How fabrics facilitate physical experiences and emotional expression
Designers will gain a comprehensive understanding of how material suppliers engage in product development once a trend direction emerges.
The session will also deconstruct a complete development case study—tracing the journey from trend concept and material development to final product application—to help designers truly appreciate the capabilities of fabric developers.
Part 3: Showroom Experience: How Designers Interpret Trends Through Materials
Following the presentation, designers will be guided by Chris to explore Yubang’s showroom and sample room.
Designers can directly touch the materials, observe how fabric textures influence the product experience, understand how material structures cater to specific physical needs, clarify the interplay between color, function, and emotion, and even simulate how products appear at the point of sale.
The sample room will also be open, allowing designers to interact with experienced pattern makers and technical specialists.
Designers can ask questions and resolve queries such as: "Is this material suitable for wire-free construction?" "How is lightweight support achieved?" or "What manufacturing techniques create this specific tactile feel?"

Part 4: Color × Material Lab: Turning Trend Insights into Design Concepts
"Hands-on" creation is the core of this event; more than just listening to presentations, the workshop focuses on the practical act of translating a trend into a design concept.
Designers will work in collaborative groups of approximately five people. Each group will be randomly assigned a COLORO trend color, access to Yubang’s trend material library, and a design brief card.
Next, each group must create a mood board featuring:
1 primary trend color
A combination of 2–3 materials
A collection name
Keywords and design rationale

Designers will collaborate to build a cohesive product concept that integrates color, tactile feel, physical experience, usage scenarios, and material structure.
This is not a collage exercise, but a real test of design thinking and product logic. We aim to move beyond the question "What is the trend?" to explore how designers conceptualize the relationship between materials and the final product when translating trends into reality.
A "Best Trend Translation Award" will also be presented, judged by representatives from COLORO, Fujian Unitex, and Interfilière.
