Diesel and Savage x Fenty have come together to unveil their inaugural collaboration, launching a collection that spans lingerie and apparel. Glenn Martens, the creative director at the renowned Italian fashion house Diesel, and Rihanna, the driving visionary behind the US lingerie brand Savage x Fenty, announced in a joint press release that this partnership is rooted in "a mutual commitment to inclusivity and the celebration of self-love without apology."
Diesel x Savage x Fenty represents the latest installment in a wave of fashion collaborations that underscore the growing prominence of underwear in the world of fashion. An increasing number of fashion brands and lingerie designers are joining forces to embrace the vision that underwear is not just worn, but also seen as a statement of style and self-expression.
For example, the Belgian fashion brand Ester Manas teamed up with the lingerie brand Chantelle X to unveil a captivating collection during Paris Fashion Week. Speaking on the occasion, Renaud Cambuzat, the global chief creative officer of Chantelle X, expressed, "We both uphold a shared vision that emphasizes inclusivity and creativity, while embracing body positivity and daring, innovative designs."
Furthermore, the emerging designer Nensi Dojaka secured a collaboration with another prominent fashion brand: Calvin Klein. During her SS25 showcase at London Fashion Week, underwear emerged as a focal point.
Similarly, the lingerie trade show BodyFashion Days at the Cube Centre in Almere, Netherlands, conveyed a clear message: lingerie should be visible. An employee from the Belgian lingerie group Van de Velde demonstrated how black shapewear could be worn openly under a blazer, even at formal business events. With the launch of their new SS25 collections from fashion brands Marie Jo, Primadonna, and Sarda, Van de Velde advocated the idea that underwear could also take a prominent role in the future.
